Outplacement

  • A time may come in any company when it is forced to lay off employees. There may be many reasons for this, including no further need for a given position/function, the end of a long project, shutdown of the company or individual departments of it, a change in the company’s business, increased complexity of output products or the technologies used to manufacture them, resulting in a fundamental change in employee skills and training required under the new conditions, or forced downsizing due to cyclical economic downturns and crises, etc. One way or another, the company’s owners or managers have to make difficult decisions and take actions to cut part of the company’s workforce or individual employees.

In order to make this process as uncomplicated as possible for both parties in a labor contract, while at the same time complying with labor legislation, AVENIR offers the use of its Outplacement Service. This service includes a number of measures that can be taken step by step as part of a comprehensive package or used on an individual basis by including them in the company’s own plan/program:
    1. Advising companies involved in downsizing on questions of labor legislation in order to identify the most optimal means of severing labor relations with a downsized employee.
    2. Help in carrying out established procedures and drawing up all necessary documents for canceling a labor contract, including informing government departments in the event of mass layoffs.
    3. Involvement of an AVENIR employee in negotiations with a downsized employee.
    4. Legal assistance in settling labor disputes that may arise and advice on how to prevent conflict situations.
    5. Conversations with the company’s remaining staff to help reduce the negative impact of the downsizing process on their emotional state, relations with their employer, and their future motivation.
    6. A therapy session with a downsized employee to help reduce the negative impact of the downsizing process and on his or her emotional state and relations with the employer and colleagues.
    7. Comprehensive psychological help and guidance for a downsized employee who is at the end of his or her career (retirement) or in a successful search for a new job. In the latter case, we offer the following list of professional services to a downsized specialist:
      1. Psychological follow-up.
      2. Professional guidance, including information on the current job market situation, demand level for this specialty, and salary levels.
      3. Guided practicum in preparation for the search for a new job.
      4. Guided practicum in preparation for the interview and selection process at the new workplace.
      5. Development of a personal strategy for finding a new job.
      6. Guidance and practical assistance in putting together a resume.
      7. Practicum in search means and methods, information resources, and other job search sources and channels.
      8. Posting the resume of the 10 most popular job search engines.
      9. Selecting available vacancies that match the employee’s profile.
      10. Ongoing introduction of the employee to new employers. (Although AVENIR cannot guarantee 100% that the specialist will find a job in this case, there is no question that this approach substantially increases the chances of a downsized employee finding work quickly in a new company and has a positive effect on the image of the previous employer as one who cares about a former employee).
